Our Story
After passing his exams with distinction, Mark trained with the Amplivox/Ultratone Group, going on to manage their Morningside store.

Following the takeover by Amplifon and as a result of what he considered to be a lack of customer-centred care, Mark joined Hidden Hearing.
Within a year he was managing its Scottish operation; subsequently becoming the UK-wide Compliance Manager. His remit was to improve best practice and clinical care, and during his time in the role, he implemented many processes and procedures to improve service to customers.

Ultimately though, Mark became concerned that high street customers were being offered less choice and independent advice, as hearing aid manufacturers bought up high street retailers to push their own products; prioritising profits over best impartial advice.

Even some so-called ‘independents’ use loans from manufacturers to set up their business. Do you think they remain genuinely impartial when prescribing, when they have a loan to pay back; which is reduced with every hearing aid they sell from that specific manufacturer?

These concerns prompted Mark to set up his own local, expert hearing care practice, with no outside finance, offering patients truly independent hearing care with the best customer service possible – and all in the comfort of their own homes.

To that end, Mark is joined in his mission to deliver quality hearing care by Gill, his wife of 23 years. Gill has many years’ Customer Service experience with Standard Life where she worked from age 16. She later pursued an academic career, gaining a joint Honours degree in Politics and Sociology from Edinburgh University.
So in addition to her book-keeping and customer service skills, she can rightly lay claim to being the brains of the business!
'Our aim is to put you first.
Your hearing will always be our first priority'.

Mark Coyle HAD, MSHAA
Director of Audiology
Hear Here’s Director of Audiology Mark Coyle is no stranger to hearing loss.
He grew up with his father having almost no hearing in his left ear as a result of surgery to resolve a serious, recurring infection. Mark himself required surgery on his eardrums at only five years old to avoid a similar fate.

A firm believer that any business in the caring profession needs to put the customer at the very heart of what it does, Mark decided to set up Hear Here, bringing his customer-centred approach directly to the fore.

You are more than a commodity:

'At Hear Here we care about every patient and value them the way we would want our own family
to be valued.'
